Shabbat Shalom Gilboa community!
This is the last Shabbat of First Session, which is always bittersweet! We say goodbye to so many familiar faces, cherishing our last moments together. This week for our Shabbat Blog, Amelimot (rising 3-5th graders) wrote and drew their highlights from this summer's Yom Meyuchad (special day). The theme this summer was 'Why Town', where everything is backwards--saying 'good night' in the morning, crazy costumes to lunch, and lots of things were upside down and inside out. Why Town was famously led by the mysterious Mayor.
Everyone loved the Mayor, because Why Town is the greatest on the map! But as the day progressed...chanichimot (campers) began to wonder if the Mayor was really as great as everyone thought. We spent the afternoon learning the Mayor's real life story, and how he was actually doing a lot of sneaky surveillance on the townspeople. By the end of the day, we realized our love for him was all caused by propaganda, and rioted against him. We had a camp-wide protest, full of cheering and handmade signs. After dinner, we decided it was time to escape Why Town! After dressing in all-black, we played a game of Zap, stealthily moving across camp to get out of Why Town. After a successful escape, we ended the night by throwing the Mayor into the pool!
Here were some of the Amelimot's highlights (click through the slideshow):
And of course, here are some photos from our final Shabbat of First Session!
