We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Camp Gilboa’s Community Engagement Committee—a new initiative designed to bring our community together all year long through meaningful, fun, and enriching experiences.
This committee was created with a simple goal in mind: to strengthen our bonds beyond the summer by offering opportunities to connect, learn, volunteer, and just enjoy each other’s company. Whether you’re a long-time Gilboa family or brand new to the community, there will be something for everyone!

What kinds of things can you expect?
Book groups that explore powerful stories and spark great conversation
Cultural and educational events happening around town
Volunteer opportunities where we can make an impact together
And plenty of surprises along the way
To kick things off, we’re excited to invite you to two events:
Camp Gilboa’s Book Club!
A slightly Talmudic type of book club: we will engage in personal and thoughtful reflection—with wine, cheese, and comfort.
Camp Gilboa is launching its very first book club for parents, alumni, and anyone who enjoys reading books that (probably) don’t have pictures.
Each month we’ll read and discuss a different book — expect thoughtful reflection, rotating book selections, and warm, cozy gatherings.

Our first book: Here I Am by Jonathan Safran Foer
First meeting: Thursday, May 15th (time and location will be announced after you’ve signed up)
Hosted by: Diana Harlin & Jonathan Small
Jonathan hosts the podcast Write About Now, where he interviews writers (and is one himself!)—and both he and Diana are beloved members of the Gilboa family.
Everyone who joins will get the opportunity to host and choose the next book. Don’t want to host? Just come for the cheese and good conversation. All are welcome.
To sign up, email Lara Dutta at ldutta514@gmail.com

Let’s read and connect!
Art & Dialogue with Shlomit Levy Berenzon

This Sunday, join us for a powerful cultural event featuring Gilboa parent and artist Shlomit Levy Berenzon, whose work is featured in Redefining Zionism: Portraits and Perspectives from a Post-October 7 Israel, a new exhibit co-sponsored by IKAR.
Through striking photography and storytelling, the exhibit offers a diverse set of voices—artists, journalists, activists, and educators—grappling with what Zionism can mean in the aftermath of October 7. Shlomit will be speaking as part of a special program at the museum, and Gilboa families are warmly invited to attend and engage.
Event details:
Redefining Zionism
Sunday, April 28 | 3:00–5:00 PM
@ The Wende Museum (Culver City)

We hope this committee becomes a space where new friendships are formed, ideas are shared, and the Gilboa spirit continues to grow all year round.
Come to one event or all of them—we’re just excited to be together.
B’hatzlacha and see you soon,
The Camp Gilboa Community Engagement Team <3
