SCHEDULE: Reunion events will run from early evening Friday, August 1st through brunch on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014.
Nearly 60 Machaneh Gilboa bogrim (alumni) from the 1950s and 1960s gathered at the new Gilboa for a weekend of chavershaft, nostalgia and fun in Big Bear, California. They had a blast renewing old friendships, singing Hebrew melodies and generally reliving their collective youth as well as connecting with today's Habonim Dror.
Alumni amazed the campers with their harmonies, challenged them to a round of "Saskatchewan" and engaged them in chuggim about "Habonim in the Olden Days" and a 1960s era Anti-War Shabbat led by Alisa Belinkoff (recreated from an original manuscript that she had written when she was a chanicha/camper). A heartfelt and emotional sicha on "What Habonim Meant to Me" reignited alumni's ties to each other and to the movement.
Don Scholl led a tzofiut chug; Miriam Chankin and Yael Caiserman Rosenbloom taught the kids the latest Israeli dances and the oldest songs. Dalia Belinkoff collated a shiron (songbook) used as they sang into the night.
